Armored vehicles were spotted cruising along major roads and intersections, while personnel were stationed at strategic locations, including around key public infrastructure.

Through online platforms, organizers advised supporters to stay alert, suggesting any demonstrations were unlikely to begin until the afternoon. The messaging echoed past mobilization efforts in the country, when turnout increased later in the day.

Motorists who ventured out reported frequent checks at roadblocks, where police interrogated motorists about where they were headed.

Authorities have not provided detailed comments on the increased security or on the scheduled demonstrations.

The government has prohibited the planned protests and called off independence anniversary events, advising the public to remain at home.
